Project Overview

Launching a well-ordered and professional-looking website with the standing out feature; the vertical menu.

Background

Lyndale Secondary College was looking for a web developer to recreate their website with a modish look. Furthermore, they wanted to give a unique and more user-friendly experience to their website’s users.

Their old website was full of data, nevertheless, users have to roam over the site to find what they were looking for. Moreover, the overall design didn’t represent the school’s identity; which is one of the objectives of having a website. Apart from the solutions for these, the client wanted us to design a unique and clean (yet fascinating) design for them.

Kick off

Customarily, we kicked off with our first meeting with the client. A brief meeting, but ended up with lots of notes.

Then, with all these notes on the table, our business analysts and designers had a meaningful discussion to finalize the design elements, typography, colour palette, and so on.

Hopefully, within a couple of days, we could finalize the design system. The hard work paid off! The client was delighted and contented. So, they rubber-stamped the design and our solutions for their requirements!

Solution

Stage 1: A custom plugin for the vertical menu.

Our client wanted to have a unique and modish appearance on the website. So, what was in his mind was a vertical menu instead of a typical horizontal one.

Right after the client approved the design system, our developers started work, and finally, it was done, a plugin to add a vertical menu to the website!

Stage 2: Hand-drawn digital illustration of the client’s unique icons.

The client was concerned about not showing their identity through the old website. No more worries, our designers took care of it. They came up with a set of gorgeous icons which were unique to the client.

Stage 3: A fully functioning clickable prototype.

The client was concerned about not showing their identity through the old website. No more worries, our designers took care of it. They came up with a set of gorgeous icons which were unique to the client.

Stage 4: Even better with the client feedback.

The client loved our work, which is what we always look for whenever we start a new project.

However, we received some suggestions to do some amendments to the design. With new photos from the client and the amended design, we ended up with a professional-looking website that represents Lyndale Secondary College.

Stage 3: At last…

The final review ended with no more amendments. So, next is the last, but the most important step; Web optimization! If we failed here, all the effort so far become worthless.

We did some minor adjustments to the design of mobile and tablet versions in order to match several limitations of the devices. Finally, Image optimization, Cache management, and the use of CDN were done to ensure the best user experience.

With all of that, another unique creation of ITS Gippsland ended!

The new website of Lyndale Secondary College will represent the school in the digital world as expected for sure.
